Bursa
A fluid pouch lined by cells that make the fluid. Their function is to reduce impact and friction around joints especially repeatedly used,high impact or repeated impact areas. Common sites are around the knee, elbow, hip and wrist.
An inflammation of these areas is termed Bursitis and represents a swelling secondary to increased fluid manufacture. An aspiration is sometimes needed.
