Capsulitis/Effusion

All joints have a lined sac around them to allow smooth hydraulic movement of the joint. This can inflame for several reasons reducing the hydraulic efficiency of the joint and resulting in symptoms of pain and reduced movement. If the inflammation is severe then “adhesions” can form reducing movement further.
A common example is adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder. (frozen shoulder)
