Quadriceps muscle

The large thigh muscle that aids stability of the knee joint and extends the knee. The patella (kneecap) is within its tendon that inserts into the tibial tuberosity. This muscle along with the hamstrings and the calf muscles forms the tripod that gives the knee stability and is the focus of Physiotherapy  treatment for knee rehabilitation.
