Scaphoid bone

A small bone in the wrist at the base of the thumb..It is essential to not miss a fracture as the fragments often have a high risk of not joining or healing if correct treatment does not occur. X-rays are often repeated after a few weeks and also plaster casts are applied prophylactically if the signs are suggestive of a fracture.
