The New Merger

Premier Medical and Medico-Legal Reporting join forces to create UK’s largest provider of medical opinion.

The February 2008 merger of Premier Medical Limited and Medico-Legal Reporting, to form Premier Medical Group, will create the UK’s largest provider of medical opinion.

Both companies have a reputation for service excellence, bringing together a significant database of experts across all medical faculties to produce 113,000 reports per annum. The new organisation provides the foundation for sharing expertise and best practice, and the opportunity to improve the speed and scope of services provided.

The Group will operate from its two existing locations in Ludlow, Shropshire and Pangbourne, Berkshire with a combined staff of 210 led by an executive management team that reflects the medical and operational expertise of both companies.

In addition to improving competitiveness through operational and supply chain synergies, the Group plans to expand into other areas of primary care including private GP consultations, rehabilitation, wellness and occupational health services. This reflects a natural strategic diversification into related rehabilitation and corporate healthcare areas.

Noting that this was a milestone for the developing business, and thanking customers and doctors alike for 10 years of solid support, Dr Harry Brünjes, Chairman of Premier Medical Group, said:

“It has been an uncertain time for the industry recently, especially following the Liquidation of medical reporting firm IMS in 2007. As an enlarged and financially stable business, Premier Medical Group offers our doctors considerable security over payment and volume of work. We look forward to working with our doctors to streamline processes and improve service consistency.”

Recognising that the merger would give the Group and its customers significant opportunities, Jason Powell, CEO of Premier Medical Group, commented:

“The merger is a compelling investment that brings together two businesses recognised for their expertise and quality of service but with minimal customer overlap. Following the introduction of the Medical Reporting Organisation Agreement last year, the enlarged business will allow us to compete more effectively in the market while moving us ahead of the competition in terms of speed and service delivery.”
